Anguish
has taken wing;
dispelled
is darkness.
The
people who walked in darkness
have
seen a great light.
The
light has shined on those
who
lived in the land of the shadow of death.
You
have multiplied the nation.
You
have increased their joy.
They
rejoice before you as at the harvest,
as
men rejoice when they divide plunder.
For
the yoke that burdened them,
and
the staff on their shoulder,
the
rod of their oppressor,
you
have broken as in the day of Midian.
